Watch the video below for a quick look at Saint Mike DSP Abyssus.
What Is Saint Mike DSP Abyssus?
Saint Mike DSP Abyssus is a bass amp plugin designed for processing a direct-input (DI) bass guitar signal. It combines amplifier controls, cabinet options, tone shaping, and effects in one interface, giving bass players several tools for shaping their sound.
There is a free version and a paid version with additional features. This video focuses on the free version, making it a useful starting point if you’re looking for bass amp plugins without spending money.
Saint Mike DSP Abyssus Features
The Abyssus interface includes several sections for shaping and processing a bass guitar signal.
Preamp and Compression
The preamp section includes compression and fuzz controls. Compression can help manage the dynamics of a bass performance, while fuzz adds distortion for a more aggressive or saturated tone.
Amplifier Controls
The amp section provides treble, bass, and midrange controls. You can also adjust the midrange frequency to target a particular part of the frequency spectrum. Separate gain and master controls provide additional control over the amplifier’s drive and output level.
Cabinet Selection
Abyssus includes a cabinet section with selectable cabinets. The section also provides low-cut, high-cut, and level controls for adjusting the frequency response and output of the processed signal.
Built-In Effects
Beyond the amp and cabinet sections, the plugin includes several additional processing tools:
- EQ: Further shape the frequency balance of the bass.
- Chorus: Add modulation and movement to the sound.
- Stereo spreader: Widen the processed signal.
- Gate: Help control unwanted noise.
- Blend control: Mix the processed signal with the original DI bass signal.
- Bass tuner: Access a tuning utility directly within the plugin.
These features give users multiple ways to shape a bass sound without necessarily needing separate plugins for every processing task.

The demonstration is a quick overview rather than an exhaustive comparison against other bass amp plugins. If you’re considering adding another bass amp to your collection, listening to the examples is a good starting point for deciding whether Abyssus deserves a closer look.
Is Saint Mike DSP Abyssus Worth Checking Out?
If you’re a bass player, home recording musician, or music producer who likes trying free audio plugins, Saint Mike DSP Abyssus is worth investigating.
