Watch Bloom Ensemble Mallets in Action
Bloom Ensemble Mallets is part of Excite Audio’s Bloom series, bringing together a collection of tuned percussion instruments in one creative instrument plugin. Rather than focusing on traditional orchestral percussion, it offers a more contemporary approach to melodic sound design, making it suitable for electronic music, ambient compositions, cinematic productions, and experimental tracks.
The instrument combines sounds from pianos, marimbas, vibraphones, glockenspiels, music boxes, and other mallet-played instruments. These sounds can be used individually or combined into larger ensembles, giving producers plenty of options for adding organic character to their arrangements.
Toy Pianos, Marimbas, Xylophones, and More
One of the main attractions of Bloom Ensemble Mallets is its range of tuned percussion sounds. Toy piano-style tones and delicate music box sounds can add a playful or nostalgic quality to a track, while marimbas and xylophones provide bright, woody attacks that work well for melodic patterns and rhythmic accents.
Vibraphones and other resonant percussion sounds can introduce a softer, more atmospheric character. These instruments can be useful when building ambient soundscapes, adding movement to electronic productions, or creating distinctive melodic hooks.
You can explore different sounds through the instrument’s preset library, which includes categories such as Full Ensembles, Experimental, High Energy, Low Energy, Melodic, Solo, and Textures. This makes it easier to find sounds suited to different musical styles and creative directions.
Explore the Bloom Engine
Bloom Ensemble Mallets is powered by Excite Audio’s Bloom engine, which combines sound manipulation, sequencing, and performance controls in a single interface.
The keyboard layout provides access to performance features, including controls for changing playback speed and experimenting with half-speed patterns. You can also select different musical keys and explore patterns labeled A through F.
The plugin includes a sequencer, sample-import capabilities, and effects on both its main interface and editing page. These features let you experiment with sounds, adjust their character, and create evolving patterns without having to build every musical element from scratch.
Create Melodic Patterns and Layered Textures
Bloom Ensemble Mallets isn’t limited to playing one instrument at a time. You can change the instruments assigned to different performance slots, including sounds such as piano and vibraphone, and incorporate them into sequences.
This approach makes it possible to combine contrasting percussion timbres, build layered melodic phrases, and create rhythmic patterns that develop over time. You can start with a simple sound and experiment with additional instruments and effects until you find something that fits your production.
For electronic producers, these capabilities offer a way to introduce more organic melodic movement without relying exclusively on conventional synthesizers or standard drum sounds.
